A message from the Linux Technology Center Director

Merwyn JonesI am very excited about the Open Computing possibilities our coalition will bring to businesses. Open Standards have evolved to the point where businesses can rely on existing code to build, or expand, their products. This software development model will accelerate innovation in the IT arena for the foreseeable future. BU is positioning itself to be a leader in Open Computing.

One way of measuring this coalition’s success will be in the number of LTC business engagements. The LTC has already completed one successful project with Custom Systems Integration (CSI), a test engineering company. Working with the Center allowed CSI to compete for contracts they would have previously passed on

The Information Technology industry continues to be a growth market. Technological advances and pace have spurred a sense of urgency for all companies to efficiently handle their IT. It is this type of innovation that will foster the new ideas, technologies, and processes that lead to better jobs, higher wages and a higher standard of living.

Our goal is to offer the Open Computing skills that will support businesses, encouraging job growth and develop technological skill growth in the Southern Tier, and across the nation.
